How much should I feed my dog

It's the most important question of a dog owner, but also the most that is complicated to answer. What a dog should eat depends on the food, the age and activity level of the dog, the size of the dog and the breed. Your main goal is to keep your dog happy and healthy, but can you really do both? Dogs love food, dogs could have weight problems and health problems too, so where do you start?

First of all, take into consideration the age of your dog. Is she a puppy or an old dog? If you have a puppy there should be little worry about how much she eats because most of her food intake goes on rapid growth.

If you have a middle age dog, you have to pay attention since she could eat too much or too little. Take into consideration the advice of your wet and observe your dog on your own to decide how much she/he should eat.

Old dogs could eat even less since they aren't as active as they used to be before. Active dogs could eat a little more.

Most people follow recommendations of food labels. You can start giving as much food as it says on the label and see if your dog has any problems with it. Then you can adjust how much food to give by giving your dog more or less of food and observe how she reacts to eat, if it makes her feel better or worse.

Different breeds of dogs require different amount of food. Bigger dogs eat more food then smaller dogs.

As long as your dog is happy and healthy you shouldn't worry. If your dog is constantly hungry, and getting too skinny then you might try something different. If your dog is always hungry but looks healthy and isn't loosing much weight, then you have to pay close attention to not overfeeding your dog too much.

It can take awhile to figure out how much you should feed your dog, but once you figure it out, it will be easier for quite some time.
